  • The most recent versions of Registry programs have been delivered to our partners at the Department of Marine Science, University of South Florida (USF) who have set up a dedicated server for the Observation Registry back-up system. Testing of the new programs at the USF location is now complete which will ensure no down time should a problem occur with the primary system. Much thanks to USF Marine Sciences staff and Vembu Subramanian for their support! (June 19, 2009).
  • Obs Registry Registry 2.5 beta version launched! Improvements include display of various observing platform types, sensor coverage representation as lines and polygons, and data validation/error notification programs (January 23, 2009).

The IOOS Observation Registry is a project initiated by the IOOS community to inventory non-Federal observing assets in the United States. With low barrier to participation the Registry provides a simple mechanism for regional data collectors to report on their real-time observations, enabling them to share the most recent descriptions of their deployments. With information streams coming in from all areas of the coastal U.S., Great Lakes, and Hawaiian Islands, the Registry provides the IOOS community with a fresh picture of non-Federal observing activities every 24 hours.
